Christening Greetings

May people you meet along the way
be kind and loving,
and may you always be awaited
in many homes.
May warmth of people's hearts and hands
surround you,
And may you always know
that you belong.
Your mother's smile awakens bed-time stories,
Your dad makes every game a joy.
May angels watch you while you are growing,
and stay with you once you have grown.
May your Christening candle
always burn in your heart.
May its light always guide you,
may it never blow out.
You are so wonderful and sweet,
You are our Lord's precious gift.
White doves of Christening above
Are here to guide you long and far.
And as the bell awakes and rings
Lord takes your little hand in his.
My God parents are lighting a candle,
on this glorious Christening day
they become my parents, wise and kind,
like my mum and dad, with me today.
Surrounded by their love and prayer,
I feel the abundance of Lord.
I am happy to be born and living
and be guided by the hand of God.
All who love you gathered together
To celebrate with you today.
To bring you presents, light a candle,
To welcome you, to sing and pray.
We will watch you grow and protect you,
aunts and uncles, your mum and your dad.
And your loving and kind God parents,
We'll all give you a wonderful start.
But today you receive a protection
From our kind and merciful Lord.
Among our warmest embraces
You receive an embrace from God.
Your greatest present today is a smile
That God gives you from heavenly sky.
As He watches you peaceful and sweet,
Angels gather at your little feet.
As holy water is poured on your head,
Your earthly life is waiting ahead.
Pure and innocent child of God
With Christening's blessing you are setting off.
I wish you grow a healthy child
and to become a decent person,
A person everyone can trust,
A person honest, kind and helpful.
I wish you keep your heart as pure,
and learn the most important lesson.
Love is the answer and the cure
and this is God's amazing message.
Stay always truthful so people trust you,
Be just so you can give advice.
Be warmth when rain and snow is blasting,
So people gather by your side.
The Excellence of Love
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love,
I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love,
I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.
When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
